Young Florida Talent en Route to IndyCar.
RC Enerson is an 19-year-old racing driver who has been competing since age five. The New Port Richey, FL native grew up karting and has moved up the ranks making waves at each stage of his racing career.
Racing has always come naturally to RC as a previous team principal stated, “RC’s performance last year was nothing less than amazing. He is so calm behind the wheel and possesses car control beyond his years.”
In addition to his natural ability to succeed behind the wheel, the driving skills RC possesses can be attributed to years of karting and his advancement into cars by the age of 12. The young racer tested his driving through the Skip Barber Racing School by scoring two series wins in the Regional Series, participating in two Skip Barber Karting Shootouts and completing a two-day race school program at Road Atlanta and three-day program at Sebring in 2012.
Making his debut in the Mazda Road to Indy - the ladder programs connected to the Verizon IndyCar Series - in 2012, RC noted that he was there to develop the skills needed, learn from other drivers and his coach, Jonatan Jorge to advance to the highest level of open-wheel racing in America (not sure if that’s his goal but makes sense to end with what he wants to achieve). Amazing results for the rookie came at the 2012 season opener, placing fourth at Sebring International Raceway, and then earning two National victories at St. Petersburg the following week. RC’s rookie campaign ended with a third-place championship finish and the stamina to push forward into 2013 in the Championship class in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.
“It's been great to see how much RC has been able to achieve once he began to apply himself. The talent has always been there, but once we started shaking the box, I was able to see the extent of his potential. The future is exciting!” — Jonatan Jorge, driver coach to RC.
By 2014, the Floridian set out to make the season one to remember. RC returned for his final run in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship where he finished second in the overall championship standings where he led more laps during the calendar season than any other driver and clinched nine podiums and claimed victory five times.
Enerson’s rookie campaign in the 2015 Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires Championship season was full of highlights. RC captured podiums at Barber Motorsports Park, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, The Milwaukee Mile, Iowa Speedway and the season-defining race at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course where the young Floridian snagged pole position and his first Indy Lights career win; RC ended the season fourth overall in points and was honored with the Spirit Award for embodying the heart of a champion as he aspires to reach his goals during the 2015 season.
